Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Ciarán Hinds is joining the cast of HBO’s next season of “Game of Thrones.” The actor will play Wildling leader Mance Rayder, the King-Beyond-the-Wall, says the magazine.
“Rayder has united the disparate clans of the Far North behind a single mission: To attack The Wall. Hes been frequently referenced (though unseen) in the HBO hit fantasy dramas first two seasons. In the second season finale, undercover Nights Watchman Jon Snow (Kit Harington) was being taken to meet Rayder,” they say.
The 59-year-old actor was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where the show’s primary production is based. Shooting is also taking place in Croatia, Iceland and Morocco for the third season.
The actor’s credits include Road to Perdition, The Phantom of the Opera, Munich, There Will Be Blood, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. He’s also starred in the TV series “Rome,” “Above Suspicion” and “Political Animals.”
