Matt Ryan to Return as Series Regular on Legends of Tomorrow

Good news, Constantine fans! Matt Ryan’s John Constantine is set to return as a series regular on The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow if the series is renewed for a fourth season.

Ryan played the titular DC Comics character on NBC’s live-action series Constantine, but the show was canceled after one season. Ever since the cancellation, Ryan has remained committed to the role of John Constantine and voices the role in the animated series Constantine, which will debut on the CW Seed digital platform on March 24.

Ryan’s character appeared on the fourth season of The CW’s Arrow before booking two arcs on Legends of Tomorrow, and it sounds like, as long as a renewal is announced, the character has found a permanent new home. Legends of Tomorrow showrunner Phil Klemmer stated a few months ago that they knew “an alienated, chain-smoking, bisexual, world-weary demonologist would feel right at home among our Legends.”

The show recently lost series regulars Wentworth Miller, Victor Garber, and Franz Drameh this season, and Ryan’s new status would help replenish those ranks should the series come back for a fourth cycle. While there has been no official announcement made yet, Legends of Tomorrow is expected to return as it has been a steady series for the network – especially after The CW announced that it is expanding to a sixth night of programming for the 2018-2019 season by adding Sundays into the mix.

Based on the characters from DC, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, Phil Klemmer and Sarah Schechter.

Are you excited to see Matt Ryan — and the return of John Constantine — as a series regular on Legends of Tomorrow?
