Maya Thurman-Hawke Joins Stranger Things Season 3 Cast

Variety reports that Maya Thurman-Hawke (Little Women), the 20-year-old daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, will join the cast of the upcoming third season of Netflix‘s phenomenon Stranger Things. According to the trade, she will portray an “alternative girl” bored with her day job. “She seeks excitement in her life and gets more than she bargained for when she uncovers a dark secret in Hawkins, Ind.”

It was also announced that the character of Erica (as played by Priah Ferguson), the little sister of Lucas, has been upped to a series regular. She will return “with an army of her own friends. No longer content with sitting on the sidelines, Erica finds herself on a wild mission to save Hawkins from a dangerous new threat.”

Season 3, which begins filming in April, will debut with a shorter episode count than last year’s Season 2, with only eight episodes. Precious little is known about the new season except that the action will jump ahead again, and finds the lead characters in 1985.

Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Chief Jim Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Dacre Montgomery as Billy, and Sadie Sink as Max, among others.

The series was created by The Duffer Brothers, who also serve as executive producers and directors along with Shawn Levy (who also directs), Dan Cohen and Iain Patterson. Stranger Things is a Netflix production.

Stranger Things received 18 Emmy nominations last year (with five wins) and was honored with the 2017 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, as well as the 2017 Norman Felton Producer of the Year Award in Episodic Television — Drama from the Producers Guild of America.

The series is critically acclaimed, currently Certified Fresh, with a 94% rating for both Season 1 and Season 2 on Rotten Tomatoes.
