Jessica Szohr Joins The Orville Season 2

Deadline reports that Jessica Szohr has officially joined FOX series The Orville for their upcoming second season as a series regular. The Seth MacFarlane-run space dramedy premiered last year and was the network’s largest drama premiere since the Taraji P. Henson-led series Empire.

She is set to portray a new crew member aboard The USS Orville with no other specific character details given.

Szohr is perhaps best known for her role as Vanessa Abrams on the popular teen drama series Gossip Girl. She has recently appeared in a season-long arc on the Showtime comedy series Shameless where she portrayed a tough-yet-friendly accountant named Nessa. Her other acting credits include Twin Peaks and Complications.

The Orville was created and written by FOX favorite Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, American Dad). MacFarlane also executive produces the series along with Brannon Braga, David A. Goodman, Jason Clark and Jon Cassar. MacFarlane portrays lead Captain Ed Mercer along with Adrianne Palicki as Commander Kelly Grayson, Penny Johnson Jerald as Dr. Claire Finn, Chief Medical Officer, Scott Grimes as Lieutenant Gordon Malloy, Peter Macon as Lieutenant Commander Bortus, Halston Sage as Lieutenant Alara Kitan, J. Lee as Lieutenant Commander John LaMarr and Mark Jackson as Isaac, the Science and Engineering Officer.

Season 2 is set to premiere sometime this year.
