Cody Fern will star as a season regular in the upcoming sixth and final season of House of Cards. The Australian actor will join the recently-announced additions of Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear to the landmark Netflix series. He will appear alongside the main cast including Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver.
The final season will consist of eight episodes with Fern’s role being kept under wraps for now. Beau Willimon created the series that was the first original program created for the monstrous streaming service. It became the first original online series to receive major nominations from the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2013 and has gone on to receive 53 Emmy nominations to date, with seven wins. Executive producers include Melissa James Gibson, Frank Pugliese, Robin Wright, David Fincher, Joshua Donen, Dana Brunetti, Eric Roth, Michael Dobbs and Andrew Davies. Filming resumed for the final season following the recent sexual assault and harassment allegations surrounding lead Kevin Spacey.
Fern recently appeared as David Madson in the hit FX series American Crime Story: The Assassination Of Gianni Versace opposite Darren Criss, Edgar Ramirez and Penelope Cruz. He also portrayed the lead role alongside Jennifer Garner and Maika Monroe in last year’s drama The Tribes of Palos Verdes. The actor made his stage debut as the lead in the National Theatre’s production of War Horse and showcased his other talents by writing, directing and starring in his short film Pisces alongside Keir Gilchrist (It’s Kind of a Funny Story).
House Of Cards Season 6 has no official release date as of yet.
