Unbelievable: Netflix Orders Limited Series from Erin Brockovich Writer

Netflix gives eight-episode order for Unbelievable from Erin Brockovich writer Susannah Grant

Netflix has given an eight-episode limited series order to Unbelievable, which comes to us from Erin Brockovich writer Susannah Grant, according to DeadlineUnbelievable will be produced by CBS TV Studios, producers Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly (Masters of Sex) and news anchor Katie Couric.

Unbelievable will be co-written by Grant, who will also serve as showrunner, with Michael Chabon (John Carter) and Ayelet Waldman (Applebaum) The show is based on an article from December 2015 called “An Unbelievable Story of Rape” by T. Christian Miller and Ken Armstrong. The article was based on a radio episode of the show This American Life called “Anatomy of Doubt.” The article won a The Marshall Project and ProPublica Pulitzer Prize. The story was about a teenager named Marie “who was charged with lying about having been raped, and the two female detectives who followed a twisting path to arrive at the truth.”

Unbelievable will be executive produced by Grant, Chabon, Waldman, Timberman, Beverly and Couric. Timberman and Beverly, as well as Couric were reportedly pursuing the rights to the article themselves. They then joined up to produce it together. You can read the original article right here.
