Get Out writer Jordan Peele is developing a Twilight Zone reboot for CBS All Access

Get Out writer/director Jordan Peele is developing a reboot of the classic sci-fi series The Twilight Zone for CBS All Access, according to THR. The news was announced during a company earnings call by CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves on Thursday. It’s reportedly not clear if this is a straight-to-series order or if the project is only in development. The CBS All Access subscription service is currently the home to Star Trek: DiscoveryThe Good FightStrange Angel$1 and No Activity.

CBS Television Studios, which produced the original show, will executive produce Peele’s version. The show comes from Peele’s Monkeypaw banner. Marco Ramirez (The DefendersDaredevilSons of Anarchy) will write the script and will be showrunner for the new series.

The Twilight Zone, created by Rod Serling, ran for five seasons on CBS (1959-1964). The show was revived by CBS in the 1980s and ran for three seasons. It was revived again on UPN and hosted by Forest Whitaker in 2002 for one season. Another revival was attempted in 2012 with Bryan Singer (X-Men: Days of Future Past), who was to develop, executive produce and direct.

Peele is known for writing and directing the highly acclaimed horror film Get Out, starring in the Comedy Central show Key and Peele, and appearing on five seasons of MADtv. He had a recurring role in the first season of the FX series Fargo and is also known for the Netflix animated series Big Mouth, as well as the film Keanu.

Marco Ramirez is known for writing and producing Marvel’s The Defenders and Daredevil as well as Da Vinci’s Demons, writing Sons of Anarchy and two episodes of Orange Is the New Black.
