McConaughey and Harrelson Teaming for TV Series True Detective

Deadline reports that Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are looking to team up for an eight-part cop drama that would air on a cable channel. Written by Nic Pizzolatto, the series would be directed by Cary Fukunaga (Jane Eyre).

The show is titled “True Detective” and “centers on two detectives, Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Harrelson), whose lives collide and entwine during a seventeen-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana. The investigation of a bizarre murder in 1995 is framed and interlaced with testimony from the detectives in 2012, when the case has been reopened.”

The site adds that the concept is for the eight-episode first season to resolve the story’s mystery, with additional seasons using the same structure but with new characters and a new story.
