Eddie Izzard is Grandpa in The Munsters Reboot, Now Titled Mockingbird Lane

Eddie Izzard appears to be the first cast member to join Bryan Fuller and Bryan Singer’s upcoming reboot of “The Munsters,” TV Line reports. What’s more, the darker, more serious hourlong drama is now heading into production with a new title: “Mockingbird Lane.”

Izzard, who previously worked with Singer on Valkyrie, will play Grandpa Munster. The character, a vampire, was originally played by Al Lewis in the 1960s sitcom. Izzard also recently provided a voice in Pixar’s Cars 2.

Singer is planning to direct the pilot and will executive produce alongside Fuller, who also is writing the Universal Television-produced project. Production is now slated to begin this summer.

The original series ran from 1964 to 1966 on CBS.
