Leslie Iwerks and Tom Cruise Team for ILM Doc

Encore has announced plans to air a brand new Leslie Iwerks documentary narrated by Tom Cruise entitled “Industrial Light & Magic: Creating the Impossible” as part of the company’s 35th anniversary celebration.

The hour-long special is said to include new interviews with George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, J.J. Abrams, Jon Favreau, Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Williams, Jerry Bruckheimer and John Lasseter and will run the ILM’s gamut of creative output with footage from The Abyss, Avatar, Forrest Gump, Jumanji, Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean, Raiders of the Lost Ark, “Robot Chicken,” Star Trek (2009), Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Transformers, Twister, Young Sherlock Holmes and War of the Worlds (2005).

Iwerks is best known for her feature-length documentary, The Pixar Story and her short doc, “Recycled Life,” which was nominated for an Academy Award in 2007.

“Industrial Light & Magic: Creating the Impossible” will premiere at 8:00pm (et/pt) on November 14th. The televised event will be joined by Encore screenings of five ILM films including Jumanji, Hook, Jurassic Park III, Twister and Starship Troopers.
