HBO has started airing these promos for fantasy series “Game of Thrones” and drama “Boardwalk Empire.” “Game of Thrones” is based on the George R.R. Martin novels, set in the mythical land of Westeros, and centers on the noble Stark family who become caught up in high court intrigue when patriarch Eddard (played by Sean Bean) becomes the king’s new right-hand man.
Martin Scorsese’s “Boardwalk Empire” is based on Nelson Johnson’s book, which chronicles the 1920s origins of Atlantic City, N.J. The story centers on Nucky Johnson (Steve Buscemi), a cunning businessman who runs a liquor distribution ring at the onset of Prohibition, and Jimmy Darmody (Michael Pitt), a young, highly intelligent and ruthless WWI veteran, a low-level flunky for Nucky who wants to quickly climb the ladder.
