David Lynch Welcomes a Familiar Face Back to Twin Peaks

“I will see you again in 25 years,” Sheryl Lee’s Laura Palmer told Kyle MacLachlan’s Special Agent Dale Cooper inside the Black Lodge during the series finale of David Lynch’s iconic ABC series, “Twin Peaks.”

Those 25 years have nearly passed and, as “Twin Peaks” prepares to return, Lynch himself has just taken to Twitter to confirm that, as has long-been suspected, MacLachlan will be reprising his role. Check out the tweet, along with a new photo of MacLachlan with a cup of (presumably “damn fine”) coffee.

“Twin Peaks” followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer is shockingly murdered. The town’s sheriff welcomed the help of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who came to town to investigate the case. As Cooper conducted his search for Laura’s killer, the town’s secrets were gradually exposed. The mystery that ensued set off an eerie chain of events that plunged the inhabitants of Twin Peaks into a darker examination of their very existence. Twenty-five years later, the story continues…

Nine new episodes will be written by Lynch and series co-creator Mark Frost, all of which Lynch will direct.
