FX Picks Up Rescue Me for 5th Season

FX has ordered a fifth season of “Rescue Me,” picking up 22 episodes of the Denis Leary drama, reports Variety.

Production begins early next year on the season, which the cable channel will split into two cycles. Leary, Peter Tolan and Jim Serpico are back as executive producer-showrunners; the series’ cast is back intact as well.

“The show has been a great source of pride to FX and remains one of the cornerstones of our respected brand of original series,” said FX Networks president/general manager John Landgraf.

“Rescue Me,” which comes from Sony Pictures TV, DreamWorks TV and Leary’s Apostle, has been one of FX’s top-rated series, averaging a total audience of 3.2 million adults 18-49 and 4.8 million total viewers with its four weekly telecasts combined..
