From Hell Being Developed at FX as HBO Orders Westworld to Series

Deadline reports this afternoon that producer Don Murphy is developing the seminal Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell comic From Hell into a series at FX. Children of Men scribe David Arata is set to write the adaptation, which was originally published from 1989 to 1996 and finally collected in 1999.

A fictional account of the Jack the Ripper murders, the series is an ambitious tale about the identity of the infamous killer as well as being a commentary on violence and other topics. Clocking in at over 570 pages, the series features 66 pages of appendices citing the factual accuracies and sources the creators used in crafting the narrative. It was previously adapted into a film staring Johnny Depp in 2001.

In other TV news, HBO has announced they have officially picked up “Westworld” to series and that it will debut in 2015. It’s executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, Bryan Burk, Lisa Joy, and Jonathan Nolan. Nolan wrote and directed the pilot episode.
