Akiva Goldsman Has Cure for Fox

The Hollywood Reporter says that Oscar-winning writer Akiva Goldsman is venturing into television with “The Cure,” a drama pilot for Fox, which he is executive producing. CBS also has picked up a drama pilot executive produced by filmmaker Doug Liman called “22 Birthdays.”

Additionally, Fox is heading to New Orleans with the drama pilot “K-Ville,” while NBC is taking on the Big Apple with the comedy pilot “The Mastersons of Manhattan.”

“Cure,” from Warner Bros. Television and Goldsman’s Weed Road Pictures, revolves around a group that cuts through the red tape of medical bureaucracy — often at their own peril — to get care to those who need it most.

Lara Croft: Tomb Rider writers Patrick Massett and John Zinman wrote the script and are executive producing with Goldsman. Brittany Lovett and Stephanie Koff are co-executive producing.

“22 Birthdays,” from NBC Universal TV Studio, explores the trysts, loves and lies among the elite and powerful of Los Angeles who constantly gather at birthday parties for their children.

Peter Noah (“The West Wing”) and writing duo Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein (“Futurama”) penned the script and are executive producing with Dutch Oven’s Liman and Dave Bartis.

“K-Ville,” from 20th Century Fox TV, is a buddy cop drama set in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans. Jonathan Lisco (“NYPD Blue”) is the writer/executive producer.

“Manhattan,” from NBC Universal TV Studio, is a serialized comedic soap opera revolving around two sisters in a socially prominent family in New York.

Gary Janetti (“Will & Grace”) penned the pilot and is executive producing.
