A sitcom based on the 2005 comedy hit Hitch is on the way with Will Smith executive producing, The Hollywood Reporter has just revealed. FOX has plans to develop the property as a half-hour sitcom with Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan writing.
Also starring Eva Mendes and Kevin James, Hitch was directed Andy Tennant and follows Smith’s Alex “Hitch” Hitchens, a true urban myth – a legendary New York City “date doctor” who, for a fee has helped hundreds of men woo the women of their dreams. The ultimate professional bachelor, Hitch discovers that all of his tried and true tricks of the trade are no match for Sara (Mendes), the one woman he truly loves.
Smith’s Overbook Entertainment will executive produce the series alongside Sony Pictures Television.
