The Punisher: Rosario Dawson Seemingly Confirms Jon Bernthal’s MCU Return

Following Charlie Cox’s official return as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans of Netflix Marvel shows are also looking forward to the possibility of seeing the other Defenders including Jessica Jones and The Punisher also make their respective Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts. In a recent appearance at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, when asked about the potential return of her character Claire Temple/Night Nurse, Marvel’s Daredevil alum Rosario Dawson seemingly confirmed that Marvel Studios is also planning a The Punisher revival.

“I found out yesterday that The Punisher was happening again,” Dawson revealed. “So, I feel like it’s my second chance because that’s the only one of the shows I wasn’t in and I love Jon Bernthal. So, let’s all make it happen collectively, guys.”

Netflix’s The Punisher series only ran for two seasons from 2017-2019. Before Jon Bernthal landed his own show as the ruthless Marvel anti-hero, he first made his debut in the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil starring Charlie Cox. Bernthal’s take on the character received rave reviews during the series’ run, with many associating it as the definitive live-action adaptation for the comic book character.

In a previous interview last year, Bernthal revealed that he would only reprise the role of Frank Castle in the MCU if Marvel Studios continues to portray the same level of darkness that the character is known for.
