Comic-Con: Death & Non-Spoilers – Highlights From the Dexter Series Finale Panel

It was a fond farewell to Showtime’s acclaimed drama Dexter to close out the Hall H festivities at Comic-Con on Thursday.

The cast, which wrapped the last episode of its eighth and final season just last week, was tight-lipped about how the series would end, although speculation remains high that the body count will go up. That’s not much of a stretch given that over half of the eight actors on the panel had already met their doom.

The closest anyone came to spilling the beans regarding the rest of the final season, which is currently airing on Showtime, was Yvonne Strahovski, who plays Hanna McKay.

“I’m coming back,” she said. “I don’t know when. Her revenge… I, um… Her motivation…”

The slip up prompted a roar from the crowd and planted the seed that Hanna will be looking to go after the title character.

John Lithgow, who played the Trinity Killer, was not on the panel, but sent a video for the Hall H faithful. “I wish I could be with you today, but as you all know… I’m dead,” quipped Lithgow, alluding to his character’s demise in Season 4. “I wish I could tell you how Dexter ends, but I’ll leave that to Michael… Michael?”

Michael C Hall, who plays Dexter Morgan, declined to spoil how the show will wrap.

Jennifer Carpenter, who plays Dexter’s half-sister Debra Morgan, reiterated what she hopes happens with her character before the final curtain.

“I want Deb to die,” she said. “I want her to go to the bottom of the abyss… instead of being in my head eight years after the show.”

Carpenter had said in previous interviews she hoped Deb would meet her end. Each of the stars revealed the tokens they took from the set on the last day of shooting. Hall took Dexter’s watch and his lanyard with his ID.

“I also took a nine foot portion of the railing from outside of Dexter’s apartment,” he said. “I’m going to put it in my backyard.”

Aimee Garcia, who plays Jamie, said she took Jamie’s necklace. Desmond Harrington, who plays to crooked Detective Joey Quinn, took all of the ‘gold’ that he wears on the show, but confessed none of it is real.

Strahovski took the black orchid. Carpenter, without elaborating, said she took a lot.

“Dexter’s” series finale is due to air in September.
