Ballers Season 4 Episode 1 Recap

Ballers is back for its fourth season on HBO, and it’s time to catch up with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Spencer Strasmore and the rest of friends as they navigate the world of professional sports far beyond their wildest dreams.

On the Ballot

The Rock Ballers

In Los Angeles, Spencer woke up to the good news that he’s included on the ballot for the Hall of Fame. When Joe stoped by, Spencer shared the celebratory fervor before informing Spencer that they’ll be meeting up with a possible client specializing in action sports. Spencer was then informed of a star high-school athlete which he’ll be keeping tabs on.

“Retired”

As Ricky was shown a house in LA, he divulged on the retirement of his career. He specified that the primary reason for settling down is for his family. Yet, he was still committed to the business side of his passion. Jason revealed in a phone call to Ricky that they had finally received a team as a client. The team is Cleveland, which ultimately disappointed Ricky. Jason informed Ricky that they will most likely receive more offers once word goes around that he’s playing again.

Modesty is not his Superpower

Sports X Ballers

Lance Klians, the manager of Sports X took Spencer and Joe on a robust tour of his facilities. Spencer was somewhat put off by the abrasiveness of Lance, and questioned him profusely on the viability of the company as a corporation. Lance then took the pair to the beach to see Sports X in action, pitching them on the lifestyle that they promote. Ultimately, Spencer decided that Sports X is not who they are, while Joe attempted to sway Spencer otherwise. Joe pointed out that Spencer had been expressing disappointment with Los Angeles as a whole and inquired as to why Spencer had such a hard history with the area.

Team Leading

Charles, now the GM with the Rams, realized that he might be in for more than he bargained for when it comes to running a business. Having struggled to make sure that the 300 people under his watch were motivated to keep working strong got him the Rams.

Baggage

Spencer and Joe argument

Spencer took Joe to the bridge where his older brother had committed suicide. Having revealed to Joe what his reasons were for being hard on Lance’s company, they finalized a few more deals in the area. Joe felt rewarded with the business that they had conducted, yet Spencer informed Joe that he would be staying in LA and he would put away his baggage in order to benefit the company and finalize a few more deals.
