nspired by true events surrounding the infamous “Philip Experiment” that took place in Toronto, 1972, The Quiet Ones tells the story of an unorthodox, but charismatic Oxford University professor who uses controversial methods to lead his best students off the grid to take part in dangerous research…to create a poltergeist from negative human energy.

Starring Jared Harris, Sam Claflin and Erin Richards, the supernatural thriller is the Hammer follow-up to its record-breaking box-office hit The Woman in Black. It continues the welcome revival of the veteran House of Horror brand name under the auspices of Hammer CEO Simon Oakes which has just completed The Woman in Black: Angel of Death sequel and recently announced remakes of The Abominable Snowman and Gaslight.

Lionsgate has released the new trailer for director John Pogue’s supernatural thriller The Quiet Ones, starring Jared Harris, Sam Claflin, Erin Richards, Rory Fleck-Byrne and Olivia Cooke.

In the film, opening on April 25, a university student (Sam Claflin of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) and some classmates are recruited to carry out a private experiment — to create a poltergeist.

Lionsgate Acquires Hammer’s The Quiet Ones

Lionsgate announced today that it has acquired from Exclusive Media the North American distribution rights to the Hammer production of The Quiet Ones, a supernatural thriller starring Jared Harris and Sam Claflin and will bring the film to theatres next year on April 25, 2014.

John Pogue directed the film from a script he wrote as well.

The film is inspired by true events and tells the story of an unorthodox, but charismatic professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment:  to create a poltergeist from negative human energy.  

Hammer’s The Quiet Ones Finding Homes Overseas

Alex Walton of Exclusive Media announced today that major sales have been completed on the recently wrapped Hammer supernatural thriller The Quiet Ones, starring Jared Harris (Mad Men) and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire).

Lionsgate has picked up UK distribution rights to the film. Exclusive has also signed deals with EEAP for Eastern Europe and CIS, Independent for Benelux,  Ascot Elite for Switzerland, CDC for Latin America, CCC for Japan, Nu Metro for South Africa and Front Row for the Middle East.

In addition, other territory deals for the film include Deltamac for Hong Kong, Tanweer for India and Pakistan, , D Productions for Turkey, Village Roadshow for Greece, Sam Films for Iceland, United King for Israel, PT Amero for Indonesia, Lotus Five Star for Malaysia, M Pictures for Thailand, Pioneer for Philippines and Star TV for SE Asia.

Exclusive First Report from the Set of Hammer’s The Quiet Ones

An unusual and controversial experiment took place in Toronto in 1972 under the management of world-renowned poltergeist expert Dr. A.R.G. Owen.

Could eight ordinary people manifest a ghost through expectation, imagination and visualization? The results became a classic study into the potential of projecting “thought forms” into the real world and its affect on paranormal activity. Hammer’s The Quiet Ones Rolls Cameras

Hammer Films announced today that it begins principal photography on The Quiet Ones, the supernatural thriller/horror which will shoot on location in Oxfordshire.

Starring Jared Harris (Mad Men) and Sam Claflin (Snow White and the Huntsman), The Quiet Ones will be directed by John Pogue (Quarantine 2: Terminal).

Joining the cast are Erin Richards (Being Human), Olivia Cooke and West End theater actor Rory Fleck-Byrne.  With the story and original screenplay by Tom DeVille, revisions by Craig Rosenberg, Oren Moverman and most recently John Pogue, the film is produced by James Gay-Rees (Exit Through The Gift Shop) and Ben Holden in association with TPSC Films.
