Watch the Opening Sequence to The Last Exorcism Part 2

CBS Films has put online the opening scene of director Ed Gass-Donnelly’s The Last Exorcism Part II.   This is the first anyone is getting to see of this footage as the film was not screened for critics.

Check it out in the player inside, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.

The film continues where The Last Exorcism left off. Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) is found terrified and alone in rural Louisiana. Back in the relative safety of New Orleans, Nell realizes that she can’t remember entire portions of the previous months only that she is the last surviving member of her family. Just as Nell begins the difficult process of starting a new life, the evil force that once possessed her is back with other, unimaginably horrific plans that mean her last exorcism was just the beginning.

Shock Interview: Eli Roth On The Last Exorcism Part 2

This week, the next chapter in The Last Exorcism series, aptly titled The Last Exorcism Part II, hits the screen this Friday (March 1st) and ShockTillYouDrop.com caught up with producer Eli Roth to preview the film for us.  We grilled him on that title (wasn’t the last film the “last” exorcism?) and got him to comment on the sequel’s decision to eschew the “found footage” format, the strength of Ashley Bell and more.

Continuing where the first film left off, Part II finds teenage Nell Sweetzer (Bell) is found dirty and terrified in the woods having just escaped a demon ritual in which a cult helped her give birth to a demon baby.  She is moved into Davreaux

Hi-Res Look at The Last Exorcism Part 2 Poster Reveals the Creepy Details

The latest poster for The Last Exorcism Part 2 begs you to look closer.  Yes, it’s a shot of Nell, levitating and making the shape of a cross.  But if you study it, you’ll see one arm is bent out of shape and her wrists are indented with the shape of an unseen assailant’s hands.

You’ll find the art after the jump.

February’s Horror Releases Have a Theme and Their Own Personal Dance Party

I just wanted to take a quick moment to draw attention to three films opening in the month of February that have very similar imagery for their advertising campaign.  I know this is something I’d normally bring up during my year-end look at various horror movie posters, but I couldn’t help myself.  One one-sheet is for a possession film, another is for an alien thriller and the other is a film about a haunting.  Yet they’re unified by the contortion of the human body.

New Promo Image for Last Exorcism Part II Should Be the Poster

In addition to the newly-released trailer for The Last Exorcism Part II, CBS Films has released a promo image which I think should have been the poster design instead of this one.  It’s classy, cool, catches the eye and is a lot more terrifying than someone bending over backward to make the shape of a “2” with their shadow.  Head inside for a look!

Here’s the Trailer for The Last Exorcism Part 2

Well, the trailer for The Last Exorcism Part II has arrived and we’re now learning a thing or two about it.  It appears it’s not a “found footage” of faux documentary like the first film was.  And we may or may not know what happened to Patrick Fabian’s Cotton Marcus.

The Last Exorcism Part II Poster Bends Over Backward Again

CBS Films unveiled the one-sheet for The Last Exorcism Part II and it’s a clever spin on what Lionsgate created for The Last Exorcism.  There’s too much familiarity for my own taste, however, look closer and…yes, the bent over body and shadow form a “2.”

The new film, directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly and opening March 1st, continues where the first film left off.  Teenage Nell Sweetzer (returning cast member Ashley Bell) is found dirty and terrified in the woods having just escaped a demon ritual in which a cult helped her give birth to a demon baby.

ShockTillYouDrop.com breaks down the films you can expect to see later this month through March 19th, when winter concludes.  As usual, we weigh in with our thoughts on what is to come and provide you with links to photos and trailers (if available).

The Last Exorcism: Part II Opening In March, Has New Distributor

It looks Lionsgate will not be distributing the sequel to The Last Exorcism, now known as The Last Exorcism: Part II.

CBS Films announced today that it has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the sequel from Studiocanal.

Directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly from a screenplay by Gass-Donnelly and Damien Chazelle, the film picks up where the first entry left off.  Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) is found alone and terrified in the woods.  Back in the relative safety of civilization, Nell realizes that she can’t remember entire portions of the previous months only that she is the last surviving member of her family.  Just as Nell begins the difficult process of starting a new life, the evil force that once possessed her is back with other, unimaginably horrific plans that mean herlast exorcism was just the beginning.
