First Look at the New Titty Twister, Thoughts on From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series So…

This afternoon, Robert Rodriguez posted a pic from From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series that gives us our first look at the notorious Titty Twister. The Mexican bar filled with scoundrels and shitty beer and vampire babes. Ang guess what? It looks just like the old Titty Twister as featured in the 1996 film. I guess they adopted the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach.

SXSW Review – From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series

It’s going to take a lot for any horror fan to forget 1996’s From Dusk Till Dawn to accept the El Rey Network’s first original television series, the aptly titled From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series. Forgetting that film is not an easy thing to do. And it doesn’t help that the series premiere – which screened to SXSW audiences in anticipation of its March 11th bow – consistently recalls dialogue heard in the film and even calls on some of its actors to deliver their lines with similar inflections to those uttered by George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino. In spite of this, episode 1 is entertaining enough if you throw some good will its way, but this echo of the ’96 film is seriously lacking the energy of its predecessor and will need to be a bit more inventive to hold the attention of any genre fan. Those not familiar with the source film it will likely enjoy the tapestry of characters and the larger mystery the premiere hints at.

SXSW Exclusive: Eduardo Sanchez On His Bigfoot Film Exists, Found Footage &

Eduardo Sanchez has been dabbling in the “found footage” a lot lately. Horror fans saw The Blair Witch Project co-director applying the narrative technique to zombies with “A Ride in the Park,” a segment featured in V/H/S/2. But that was just a short tale. On the feature film side, he opted to follow up 2011’s Lovely Molly with Exists.
Scripted by Jamie Nash (Lovely Molly, Seventh Moon), Exists is a found footage Bigfoot story that finds Sanchez introducing us to brothers Brian and Matt Tover. The siblings secretly sneak out to their Uncle’s long abandoned cabin in East Texas for a party weekend with their friends only to find themselves stalked by the legendary Sasquatch. Cut off from the world, and knowing help isn

Exclusive: Robert Rodriguez on Returning to From Dusk Till Dawn

In the late-’90s, two hot names in independent cinema – Quentin Tarantino, fresh off of Pulp Fiction, and Robert Rodriguez of El Mariachi and Desperado – teamed up for the unconventional ’96 horror film From Dusk Till Dawn. One part story of two thieves on the lam (played by George Clooney and Tarantino) and one part balls-to-the-wall vampire film, From Dusk Till Dawn, as a property, proved it had legs. Perhaps it was the story’s cunning thieves, Seth and Richie Gecko, or perhaps it was the unapologetic and grotesque portrayal of the vampires (they sure ain’t pretty). Whatever the case may be, it spawned two sequels, a comic book adaptation and a video game.

You can now add “television show” to that list.
