Fox Cancels Joss Whedon's Dollhouse

Fox has cancelled the Joss Whedon drama "Dollhouse." The move follows the network's decision to not run the show in its Friday slot during November sweeps.

"Dollhouse" is expected to still come back on December 4th. 20th Century Fox TV is currently producing the show's 11th episode and "Dollhouse" is expected to finish up its 13-episode order.

All 13 episodes of the Eliza Dushku-starrer will ultimately air on the network, with the 13th serving as the series finale.

Whedon posted the following reaction:

Hmm. Apparently my news is not news.

I don't have a lot to say. I'm extremely proud of the people I've worked with: my star, my staff, my cast, my crew. I feel the show is getting better pretty much every week, and I think you'll agree in the coming months. I'm grateful that we got to put it on, and then come back and put it on again.

I'm off to pursue internet ventures/binge drinking. Possibly that relaxation thing I've read so much about. By the time the last episode airs, you'll know what my next project is. But for now there's a lot of work still to be done, and disappointment to bear.

Thank you all for your support, your patience, your excellent adverts. See you again. -j.

Ahp...don't blame Fox. They were VERY gracious to give this a shot at a second season. The show is weak, with terrible ratings. No-brainer decision for them.

Maybe now he'll realize that he needs to make his **** appealing to a wider audience. If more people watched his shows, they wouldn't get canceled. It's simple math.

Good! they deserve it.

Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles was a million times better that this, and FOX prefer to keep Dollhouse, well there you go, Karma sucks right Joss.

I blame FOX. No advertising, the friday night death slot, telling Joss what to do during the first few (rather dull) episodes and not counting TiVo and Hulu viewers, making the streams unavailable for non USA audiences... So many things went wrong... But Joss doesnt learn aswell... When will he realize that FOX simply sucks?

So Karma sucks because FOX chose to go with Dollhouse instead of the Sarah Connor Chronicles and that is Joss Whedon's fault? Strange statement.

Anyway, I tried really hard to get into Dollhouse but in the end it never grabbed my attention. I think it is just too strange of a concept for a television show. Seemed to have been a much better idea for a movie.

Well when you put a show on Fridays...how many do you really think in the 15-30 category will be watching?

oh i wasn't defending joss or the show, it wasnt that good but still, it being on fox...on fridays no less, regardless of the quality it wasn't gonna last. just the fact they didnt order a full second season was a sign.

remember that list of cancelled Fox shows Family Guy mentioned when they returned? well they could make a whole new list just as long today.....Fox just doesn't care. what puzzles me is why they spend all that money on shows they dont keep but hey, its Fox..thinking isn't their forte.
