ABC has debuted the first eight minutes of its re-imagining of the 1980's miniseries "V" online and you can watch it using the player below. "V" premieres Tuesday, November 3 at 8/9pm ET.

"V" is about the world's first encounter with an alien race. With huge spaceships simultaneously appearing over 29 cities around the world, the Visitors (or V's) seem to promote a message of peace. Through their generous offer to share advanced technology, the V's quickly build a following that may be overlooking a more malevolent agenda. "V" stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Morris Chestnut as Ryan Nichols, Joel Gretsch as Father Jack, Lourdes Benedicto as Valerie, Logan Huffman as Tyler Evans, Laura Vandervoort as Lisa, with Morena Baccarin as Anna, and Scott Wolf as Chad Decker.

The teen character says "this is independence day, which was a ripoff of a number of alien invasion movies."
As if the writer is trying to excuse himself for ripping off independence day. This is like a very boring version of the beginning build up of that film. zzzz

Independence day ripped off the original V. The shot was simply calling that out. Very wink wink for true sci-fi fans not wannabees born in the 90's like you

I agree with BigJ, anyone not old enough to remember when V first aired back in 1983 should check their remarks or else look like an @$$. Yes, the opening IS similar to what happened in Independence Day and I'm sure the similarities wont end there, just make sure you check your history before making comparisons. I wonder though, is there going to be a toy line like the old show had??

The show is better than I thought. After the Knight Rider remake that did not come close in scale to the original pilot-that was not campy. I was holding my breath.

V looks great. It will probably be a great show. However, it's missing a huge element. Marc Singer who was a movie star with Beast Master. Marc Singer is like a Han Solo/Indiana Jones type person with a lot of charisma (humor and a improvising edge). I don't see one person in that entire cast that comes close to that & is that fun to watch.

The only part of the original that annoyed me was that Marc Singer did not bang Diana, umm, with her skin on of course. ; ) lol

I enjoyed that little teaser. Very impressed with the setup. I did watch the original series but don't remember much but will definitely give the new show a chance.
Very cool!!

Using 9-11 to promote a television series is, in a word, DISGUSTING!

there is only two ways i see this going the first is that they could rip the thing i hold very close to my childhood away from me. like transformers and GI joke and kill it with bad writeing or and i really hope this is right have some one that loved it as much as i did when i was a kid and make the best movie they could and not have done it for a pay day. so to all of you out there V stands for victory and i hope they have the old man give that speach.
