Piper Perabo to Star in USA's Affairs

July 1, 2009

The Hollywood Reporter says that Piper Perabo has landed the lead role in USA Network's spy thriller "Covert Affairs."

Written by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, "Affairs" centers on Annie Walker (Perabo), a CIA trainee who speaks six languages and excels at any endeavor she undertakes.

Walker joins the CIA while still reeling over a mysterious ex-boyfriend who appears to be of particular interest to her new bosses. She vows never to let herself be hurt again, but that proves to be a tall order.

With the lead role cast, attention now shifts to finding an actor to play Auggie Anderson, a blind tech expert who assists Walker in her assignments.

@Mr Midnight

Actually, she is better. She was nominated for a Tony this year and despite a couple of bad choices and won't name one of them *cough*BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA but she is quite the character actor.

Finally Piper on a regular TV show. Yeah! She was tapped last year on something for ABC but it was about detroit and something about todo with car industry. Hitting a little too close to home.

Hope this is to get picked up. Lets see what happens this christmas season afterall they have an open time slot (since the last of Monk)

Piper's hot and an above average actress....but is this necessary for USA with already having "Burn Notice" which has a great concept & is a good show (my opinion). Guess they're trying to hit the female, lack of alias, sector. I agree with Frank Booth on the 1/2 season comment. Better get some good writing. (Jeff Bell?) We'll see?

I like her, and this sounds somewhat like Burn Notice, a great show. Maybe if they put it right after that one, they can keep the Burn crowd.

What some people may not realize is USA Network started the Chick spy show genere with La Femme Nikita that aired for 5 seasons . Produced by Joel Surnow (24) . I say lets give it a shot.
