Fox Not Renewing King of the Hill

October 31, 2008

After several previous brushes with cancellation, Fox has opted not to renew veteran animated comedy "King of the Hill" beyond its current 13th season.

In April, Fox picked up 13 more episodes from the 20th Century Fox TV-produced show, which are wrapping production.

A lot has changed since "King of the Hill" premiered in 1997. Its creators Greg Daniels and Mike Judge have moved on to other projects -- Daniels developed and is running NBC's "The Office," and Judge has a new animated series, "The Goode Family," launching on ABC in midseason.

Judge had continued to voice the central character on the series, alongside voiceover cast members Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Brittany Murphy, Tom Petty, Johnny Hardwick and Stephen Root.

"Hill" has been executive produced by Judge, Daniels, John Altschuler, Dave Krinsky, Michael Rotenberg, Howard Klein, Jim Dauterive and Garland Testa.

I hope they gave them enough time to resolve some of the major plot-threads. I can't recall any comedic animated show that actually had a resolved ending, even the long-running ones.

Just give it a good ending for a great series.

Cant really argue the point being taken as I have only watched a select few episodes of KOTH during its run. But Have been and always will be a fan of Family Guy...THANK GOD the fans made that show come back on the tv. As for Simpsons, I always liked the show but how far can they take the family story with the kids never growing up???

This is sad but I honestly can say I saw it coming. After they killed off Cotton and didn't even have a funeral for him I hoped it'd get canned.
As for American Dad, they can re-new it, they can bring back Family Guy. But a great animated show like Mission Hill can't be brought back it's a bloody travesty.

It's sad to see it go but it's time. Hopefully all will end well for the Hill family. It's hard for any show to have a good series finally, live or animation.

I'd have to say the best series finally by far was Six Feet Unders. Maybe KOTH or Simpsons will mock that as a joke, that would be kind of funny. I'm still wondering how much more Simpsons they can do since, and I think it was already mentioned above, the kids don't get any older. It would be totally different but it would be neat if they moved on and Bart and Lisa were in jr high or high school and Maggie middle school. Who knows.
