Fishburne in Talks to Replace Petersen on CSI

Laurence Fishburne is in talks to succeed William Petersen as the star of CBS' veteran crime drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," says The Hollywood Reporter.

CBS and CBS Paramount's search has been shrouded in secrecy, but the trade says Fishburne is being heavily courted to play the new character, described as a doctor/scientist outsider to the CSI unit who has the same genetic profile as a serial killer but hasn't previously acted on any homicidal impulses.

Fishburne had been mentioned as one of the "CSI" producers' top choices for the role, along with John Malkovich and Kurt Russell.

That's actually a really good casting, too bad they killed off the Liev Schreiber character. Petersen is not leaving the show, he's going behind the scenes

Petersen will be coming back though he said he'll only be making the occasional appearance. Honestly either fishburne, malkovich, or russell would be a great addition and would help fill the huge gap after petersen leaves.

lol @ TV-expert...please learn to read they are being considered to play a new character not just take over the Grissom character. anyways it should be interesting to see who get chosen and how the show turns out.

I'm a big fan of the show, i do think it has gone down hill since the season finale directed by Quinten Tarantino, it was so good that they could'nt top it. It is kind of suspicious that all of a sudden all of the actors are leaving the show. Fishburne, Malkovich or Russell would be great casting not just because they are well known names but you can tell that they are looking for someone to play a completely different character from Grissom (except for John Malkovich, who, if he wanted to, could play a Grissom like character).
