Foursome Boards NBC's ER

June 16, 2008

NBC's "ER" has added four new cast members -- Shiri Appleby, Julian Morris, Emily Rose and Victor Rasuk -- for its upcoming final season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the quartet will recur as new interns at County General Hospital on the medical drama, from Warner Bros. TV.

Appleby and Morris will play siblings Daria and Andrew Wade. Daria is a smart and eager to learn, while Andrew uses his looks, smarts and charm to get ahead.

Rose will play Tracy Martin, an ambitious intern who likes to control things, which often doesn't go over well with her superiors.

Rasuk was cast as Ryan Sanchez, a native New Yorker who's a tad nervous and is often found on his cell phone, fielding questions from his wife.

"The new group of young characters -- played by four charming and singular actors -- adds a burst of fresh energy and a bunch of different personalities for us to play off of as we enter our 15th and final season," executive producer David Zabel said. "So while we will be reconnecting with the history of 'ER,' as well as telling the ongoing stories of our current regulars, we also will track the development of these new young doctors."

Shiri on ER! Good for her. Guess that means I'm going to have to clear another hour on Thursdays this fall.

I smell a spin-off!

This is the only reason they'd introduce new characters.

I think they're planning on this being the last season but hoping that adding the new characters will boost ratings enough for more seasons. I can't really see them doing a spinoff series because throughout the show they've basically closed down every other hospital in the area so where would the new people go. And I think Third Watch was a bit of a spin off. It at least took place in the same universe because Dr. Lewis should up looking for her neice.

I agree that it should have ended a few seasons ago but at least it gets a real finale. I'm still hating The WB for Angel.
