Amy Madigan Joins Grey's Anatomy

Amy Madigan will play a recurring role on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," says The Hollywood Reporter.

She will appear in all five original post-strike episodes of the top medical drama, which returns with new episodes April 24. Madigan will play a psychiatrist at Seattle Grace Hospital.

Madigan, who was nominated for an Oscar for Twice in a Lifetime, recently co-starred in Gone Baby Gone.

First, never thought i'd say that. And...I hope that Shonda Rimes, the creator of both Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, isn't trying to bring in a storyline she had hoped to use for the rest of the first season of PP before it was announced that it wouldn't return until next fall.

Hmmm, I'm guessing she'll play a love interest for that new woman who everyone's hoping is a lesbian character.
