SCI FI's Emmy and Peabody Award-winning original series "Battlestar Galactica" returns for its fourth original season on Friday, March 28 @ 10pm ET/PT with two back-to-back half-hour specials. The first new episode will premiere the following week, Friday, April 4 @ 10pm ET/PT.

"Battlestar Galactica: Revisited" (10pm) will serve up the essential information on the series' past three seasons, providing the uninitiated with an introduction to the characters, relationships and spine-tingling drama that have captured the imagination of audiences around the world. "Galactica's" executive producers, Ronald D. Moore and David Eick serve as guides, providing insights and revelations about the critically-acclaimed series.

"Battlestar Galactica: The Phenomenon" (10:30pm) is a celebrity-studded celebration of the show's impact on pop culture. Interviewees, including Seth Green, country music's Top Male Vocalist of 2007 Brad Paisley, and The Soup's Joel McHale, and others, wax poetic about why "Battlestar Galactica" is one of the best frakkin' shows on television.

As season 4 opens, the last remnants of humanity continue their search for a new home, the thin line that separates them from the rapidly evolving Cylons is being redrawn. "Galactica's" crew, rocked by Starbuck's sudden and mysterious return from the dead and her claims that she has been to Earth and can lead them there attempts to make sense of the inexplicable. Meanwhile, four members of the fleet are still reeling from the revelation that they are Cylons and have been all along.

You're the idiot for not being up to date.

Anyway, like how they're not calling it the final season, is it possible they're deciding on whether to renew the show for a full fifth season?

they're not calling it the final season cause they're spliting season four in half and making us wait till 2009 to see the rest..thus a so called season 5 but not really. t's a blatent $$ grab by the studios that all the cast/crew are extremely angry with.

and you can't really give flack to jim about not being up to date as the question you asked was answered in a press release back in september...

by the way jim, i was waiting for season 3 on dvd so i could watch it with better quality but broke down in december as they hadn't announced the release date yet.

It is the final season. That is how it is being advertised on Sci Fi channel. On the commercials they are saying it is the final season. I was a little pissed off when I heard them say that. I don't get why Sci Fi keeps canceling there only good original shows. First SG1 and now Galactica. Soon there won't be anything left for me to watch on that channel except repeats.

I hate to see BSG go, but on the other hand, I can understand Sci-Fi Channel's reasoning on this one. Much better to have a complete story with every season running at peak performance, than to have a story that drags out until people get tired of it. I'm proud to see a story as creative and entertaining as BSG go out on top.

not up to date?

That was last January! You know, in 2007. The beginning of 2007. Wow.

I'm just hoping they film all 22 scheduled episodes rather than truncate them cos of the writers strike.

And the guy's not an idiot for not being up to date... he's an idiot for checking out info on series 4 before finishing series 3!

I have heard that it is because some of the cast do not want to return for a 5th season is why they are making it the final season. Probably due to the people not getting paid what they want or having other projects (Movies, TV Series) that they want to work on. I love the Series and wish it would continue, or at least have a big TV Movie style ending..
