ABC Family will again have a "Harry Potter" weekend, this time taking place from December 5-7. The network will air the first four installments of the popular film series as part of the network's "25 Days of Christmas" programming event. In the world television premiere of the special extended edition of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, viewers will also see deleted scenes not included in the original film version.

ABC Family will also be airing exclusive first looks at Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (opening in theatres July 17, 2009) throughout the weekend's three-day event. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and Michael Gambon discuss the upcoming film's exciting storylines, as well as revealing insider information. ABC Family's first looks at the latest "Harry Potter" feature film also offer viewers a sneak peek of never-before-seen footage of love running rampant through Hogwarts, a look into Tom Riddle's past and an introduction of Professor Horace Slughorn.

The "Harry Potter" weekend schedule is as follows:

The film stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, John Cleese, Robbie Coltrane, Warwick Davis, Richard Griffiths, Richard Harris, Ian Hart, John Hurt, Alan Rickman, Fiona Shaw, Maggie Smith and Julie Walters.

Saturday, December 6th

(5:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT) "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"
Harry and his two best friends, Ron and Hermione, try to uncover a mysterious dark force that is terrorizing the school. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Kenneth Branagh, John Cleese, Robbie Coltrane, Warwick Davis, Richard Harris, Jason Isaacs, Alan Rickman, Fiona Shaw, Maggie Smith and Julie Walters.
(9:00 PM – 12:00 AM ET/PT) "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban"
Harry, Ron and Hermione, now teenagers, return for their third year at Hogwarts, where they're forced to face escaped prisoner, Sirius Black, who seemed to pose a great threat to Harry. Harry Potter and the Put me to Sleep spell.

Posted by: Bellatrix Lestrange on November 24, 2008 at 23:32:16

Moviegoer, go away - unless you prefer more twilight coverage and news over Harry Potter. God I hope your not that thick in the head. Im going to watch the special I do every year even though I own them the tv special puts in the deleted scenes so they are part of the movie. Oh and dont give spoilers away there maybe some people on here who want to really be surprised at the end of this one. I know Who the Half Blood Prince is and the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, but thats because I've read the sixth book about 6 times.

Is it a bit too soon to be airing this stuff..I mean, everyone will have literally died of old age before the sodding movie comes out at this rate...it's like waiting for a resident evil game to be released for the consoles...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Posted by: Bellatrix Lestrange/Moviegoer on November 25, 2008 at 09:28:48

Im not a kid, and kids are most certainly not the only ones who read this stuff. People anywhere from 8-80 read Harry Potter. Why dont you men go back to your comic books and dorky high tech equipment you have in your mothers basement. BTW I go to movies all the time too I guess I can share your name moviegoer.

Okay that was dumb! It is supposed to be "a family tradition." At least I caught myself!

Posted by: Bellatrix Lestrange on November 25, 2008 at 09:39:44

I agree Hermione, Adam cant even talk straight. Oh by the way dear- her middle name is Jean not Jane. It also has become a tradition for me as well I look forward to every year when I will get to see the new sneek previews and watch the movies on the Special. HBP looks awesome so far.

This is great news! I love the couples that emerge as each movie goes on...hopefully the behind the scenes footage will show a little more on the Hermione/Ron front. Too cute. I'll have to be sure to watch ABC Family all weekend. I don't want to miss any footage!!

with this channel it's like harry potter weekend every other weekend. gets boring after a while

Posted by: Jenn on November 25, 2008 at 15:16:12

Why are they doing this now when it will be over a year anyway before we get to see the new movie anyway? Why can't they just release it sooner? Who cares about whos releasing other big movies? Those who are Faithful to the Harry Potter Series will turn out to see the series continue.

Posted by: Bellatrix Lestrange on November 25, 2008 at 16:54:16

Who said its over a year? Does that person know that there are only 12mos in a year and it now being December basically means we have 8mos to wait. That is not over a year that is under a year. I would know I was born in July. I would still have prefered it over the holidays- but life goes on. I wanted to see it kick Twilight butt.

Posted by: Victoria Malfoy on November 25, 2008 at 18:45:29

well well well.... when's the actuall secret never-before-seen footage for HBP on???

plz help, 'cause i wanna watch it.

tori.

whoops i forgot... can somebody tell me what channel number is ABC in toronto?

Posted by: Moviegoer on November 25, 2008 at 21:51:42

Harry Potter and all these good actors but the movie still blows spell.

Posted by: DB on November 25, 2008 at 22:51:48

"Why are they doing this now when it will be over a year anyway before we get to see the new movie anyway? Why can't they just release it sooner? Who cares about whos releasing other big movies? Those who are Faithful to the Harry Potter Series will turn out to see the series continue."

Yeah, and why can't they just release it right now? Or better yet, why can't they just send the film directly to my house? Or even better, why can't I just plug my head into the computer so they can download the movie right into my brain. I have Road Runner, afterall, so it should be a fairly painless download.

*END SARCASM*

And as Bellatrix pointed out, the release is certainly not "over a year." You can actually count all of the remaining months on your fingers!

While I'd love to see all of the behind-the-scenes stuff, new footage, and interviews, I'm not sure it's worth watching the movies all weekend when I own them on DVD. I'd rather not sit in front of the TV the whole weekend just to see a few minutes of HBP promos.

So what I'm getting at is this: will the stuff on ABC Family be posted on here afterwards to watch like it has been with previously installments?

Posted by: Aaron W on November 26, 2008 at 02:33:05

I wish i lived over there! We dont have anything like this here in NZ :( And i really wanna see that sneak peek of HBP! Anyone recording it onto dvd id love a copy ;)

Let's all superimpose our unwaivering loyalty on the Harry Potter series! Three cheers for Half-Blood Prince! ^_^
