Stephen Frear's Lay the Favorite, based on the memoir of the same name by Beth Raymer, has been bought by the Weinstein Company for a reported $2.2 million with plans to release it both theatrically and on VOD.

Adapted by D.V. DeVincentis, the film stars Rebecca Hall as Raymer, a Florida stripper who moves to Las Vegas to find her fame, where she meets Bruce Willis' Dink, an oddsmaker who introduces her to the world of sports betting.

The film also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones as Dink's wife, Joshua Jackson as Beth's boyfriend and Vince Vaughn as one of Willis' competition.
