ShoWest: Third Men in Black in Development!

At the Sony Pictures presentation of their upcoming summer line-up, Sony President of Worldwide Distribution Rory Bruer introduced the footage to be shown--see our description for the first-ever footage for Neil Blomkamp's District 9 here--and said how excited they were about their upcoming line-up for the summer, but also how they are looking forward to 2010 and 2011.

On the latter half of that timeline, he mentioned in passing the previously announced Spider-Man 4 from Sam Raimi and the long-rumored Ghostbusters 3, but the biggest surprise was that Sony plans to go back to the well and make a third "Men in Black" movie as well.

This was the first announcement that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones might be back together again, although no further details were given in terms of how far along they are in development, whether there's a script in the works or whether indeed, it will be joining Spider-Man 4 in Sony's summer of 2011.

We expect to hear more on this soon!

Love me some MIIIB but I can't help but think this is a April Fools Joke. Might be wrong though.

The second was a little disappointring but i'm completely willing to see a third. From what i hear Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones came up with the plot for the third.

I'm going to be cautious. Being April 1, you can see why I would be. But on the whole, it does sound like good news to me, as I have always wanted them to make a third film, and had actually talked about it with a friend and a few strangers while at the MIB ride a week or two ago.

Probably a joke but if its not it will probably suck. After all look at all the other trilogies, the third is almost always the worst. I would still like to see it though but especially Ghostbusters!

Really?

The first was great, the second was okay, but a third seems like pushing the envolope.
