Monsters University

There's some amount of cheating going on to try to make "Monsters University" work as a viable prequel, but ultimately it does work and much of that comes down to the fact that the genius pairing of Crystal and Goodman still works 12 years later. It's not Pixar's most innovative or clever movie by any means, but it ultimately delivers in terms of offering something to entertain everyone and the simplistic nature of story won't even remotely quell your kids' enjoyment.

Man of Steel

"Man of Steel" is a solid reboot of the Superman films. While it is a tad serious and has some pacing issues, the fantastic cast and mind-blowing action will impress both comic book fans and general audiences alike.

Man of Steel

There honestly is a lot to like about "Man of Steel." It looks great and is technically resplendent. Snyder has put together an excellent ensemble and when he bothers to use them, they shine. It's just a little too rushed to make room for too many action scenes which we are ultimately emotionally dislocated from due to the lack of developed story. It's not a bad start, but it could be better. On the optimistic side, there is a lot of room to get better and hopefully, with the start out of the way, the next try will be better yet.

This is the End

Easily one of the craziest movies you'll see this summer--certainly the craziest one released by a major studio--Rogen and Goldberg make an impressive directorial debut that offers more than enough laughs and entertainment value you have to give them more than a little credit for what they're able to pull off and get away with.

Now You See Me

"Now You See Me" seems far too clever to be a summer release and while it doesn't quite achieve the cleverness of "The Prestige"—nor does its ending deliver quite the same impact--those who enjoy fun heist movies should appreciate how unique this one is from others.
