The first is to possibly replace discs that kids have destroyed. The earlier seasons came in crappy cardboard cases that are torn up very quickly by kids. And if you have children that watched the discs repeatedly, they probably have scratches, fingerprints, snot, etc. smeared all over them. Getting this set now is a good opportunity to replace them. The other reason to buy this set is simply to get it for the first time. Maybe you missed the previous DVD offerings. Now you can get all of them for a fraction of the price it would have cost you to get them before. But if you already own all the sets and they are still in good shape, you don't want to buy this set for one 20 minute featurette.
