As rumored last summer, Al Pacino is joining the cast of Dan Fogelman's Imagine. Deadline brings the confirmation along with news that Julianne Moore and Jeremy Renner have also joined the cast of the dramatic comedy.
The film would see Pacino's character, an aging rock star, discovering that he has an adult son after reading a never-opened letter from John Lennon. Originally, Steve Carrell was set to play that son, but Renner will now be taking on the role. Carrell remains aboard the project as a producer.
The film is planned as the directorial debut of Fogelman, who also provided the screenplay. His credits include Carell's recent Crazy, Stupid, Love.
