It's been one hundred years since Edgar Rice Burroughs first wrote about John Carter, a 19th Century Confederate cavalryman caught in a war between three races on the planet Mars, in "A Princess of Mars," and nearly 75 years since someone first attempted to bring Burroughs' work to the big screen.
