Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. and Universal Pictures picked up two spec scripts tonight titled The End and Grim Night.

The site says that The End at Warner Bros. is a sci-fi drama written by Aron Eli Coleite and describes the project as follows:

"The film focuses on three completely different storylines that are interconnected by the fact that the players in each one are trying to reconcile the fact that the world is going to end. There is a veteran broadcast in London, a 16-year old girl and her boyfriend in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and a devoted family man in Shanghai."

Grim Night at Universal, meanwhile, is "a thriller about about a night that happens once a year globally, where people lock themselves at home and fend off the senseless and random attacks by Grims." Unbroken Films partners Bryan Bertino (The Strangers) and Adrienne Biddle are partnering with Marc Platt to produce. Brandon Bestenheider and Allen Bey wrote the script and made the following pitch trailer to help get the sale.
