Melissa McCarthy is set to star in Tammy, an upcoming project of her own creation which now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, has found a home at New Line.
Designed as a road trip comedy, Tammy will star McCarthy as a fast food restaurant employee who, after finding that her husband is cheating on her, quits her job and decides to drive to Mount Rushmore to rediscover herself. As things turn out, though, her decidedly non-PC grandmother insists on making the trip as well.
McCarthy, who headlines the CBS sitcom "Mike & Molly," turned heads with her scene-stealing performance in this summer's Bridesmaids. She'll appear on the big screen again in Judd Apatow's next, This is Forty.
