Casey Affleck has joined the cast of Legendary Pictures' Paradise Lost, reports Variety. Alex Proyas is set to direct the action adventure, which is already set to star Bradley Cooper, Benjamin Walker and Djimon Hounsou.
The film is an adaptation of John Milton's 17th-century English poem about the epic war in heaven between archangels Michael (Walker) and Lucifer (Cooper), and will be developed as an action vehicle that will include aerial warfare, possibly shot in 3D.
Affleck, who next appears in Tower Heist, will play the part of Gabriel, the chief of the angelic guards who watch over Paradise.
Legendary's Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Vincent Newman via his Vincent Newman Entertainment.
UPDATE:Deadline is now reporting that Camilla Belle is likely to join the project in the role of Eve. Belle, who headlined 10,000 BC, most recently appeared in From Prada to Nada.
