Wow! I remember having this conversation with my friend and even though I thoroughly enjoyed 'Avatar', 'Titanic's record had stood for so long I was doubtful it's gross would be surpassed. This is impressive to see, whether you liked the film or not. Way to go 'Avatar'! Bring on the sequel!

I enjoyed Avatar but Titanic will always be the number one film of all time to me; it had so much more that Avatar did not. Better story telling, script, acting, and for its time lovely visuals. 1997 will be a year I will never forget the run that Titanic gave us it opened with less then 30million and week after week added small numbers 41 weeks I believe? Titanic's run amazed me and I'm proud to say it was more enjoyable then Avatar.

Titanic will regain its tilte once it is released next year in 3D. Plus if you factor in inflation Titanic has made nearly 800 million.
