Touchstone Pictures has released the trailer for director Julie Anne Robinson's The Last Song, opening in theaters on April 2. Based on best-selling novelist Nicholas Sparks' ("A Walk to Remember," "The Notebook") novel, the drama stars Miley Cyrus, Bobby Coleman, Liam Hemsworth, Hallock Beals, Nick Lashaway, Carly Chaikin, Nick Searcy, Kate Vernon, Kelly Preston and Greg Kinnear.

The film is set in a small Southern beach town where an estranged father (Kinnear) gets a chance to spend the summer with his reluctant teenaged daughter (Cyrus), who'd rather be home in New York. He tries to reconnect with her through the only thing they have in common—music—in a story of family, friendship, secrets and salvation, along with first loves and second chances.

Looks like a decent date movie but nothing to run to opening weekend.

This actually is the first something from Miley Cyrus that might actually be decent.

But yeah, like the first post said, nothing to run to opening weekend. I might wait until its second or third weekend.

l love how in books and movies everyone who sings like a semi competent pop singer goes to Juliard. Do any of them realize that Juliard would laugh their @ss off at Miley Cyrus.

Meh, not really interested. But it's nice to see her in something that's not tween-oriented.

All the characters look realistic and then Miley Cyrus' "boyfriend" came into the trailer. "Hey guys let's grab an Abercrombie and Fitch Model!!"

I'm sorry, but pretty weak casting on their part.

They're so totally showing this trailer with New Moon, Planet 51, and The Blind Side this weekend. Think about why?

They filmed part of this at Tybee Island, which is a few miles from me. Said it would bring a lot of jobs. Reports are some people who did get the jobs for extras in cast and crew didn't get paid.
