Julian McMahon ("Fantastic Four" films), Ernest Borgnine, Richard Dreyfuss and Brian Cox (X2: X-Men United) are in negotiations to join Red, Summit's adaptation of the Wildstorm/DC Comics miniseries being directed by Robert Schwentke.

"Red" was originally written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Cully Hamner. The three-book series, published in 2003 and 2004, tells the story of a former black-ops CIA agent now living a quiet life in retirement until the day a high-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him.

McMahon would play a Vice President with a dark side who is at the center of a shadow conspiracy. Borgnine will play the keeper of the CIA's darkest records, while Dreyfuss will be a wealthy man who builds a fortune out of lucrative government contracts. Cox is a former Cold War spy and nemesis of Willis.

The cast also includes Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John C. Reilly and Mary Louise Parker.

Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing, while DC's Gregory Noveck executive produces with Jake Myers. Jon and Erich Hoeber wrote the script. The film is scheduled to begin shooting early next year.

Where'd my comment go? I stated this is an awesome cast, but since it's produced by Lorenzo Di banaventura, it's gonna stink. Lord knows I love the Borgnine!
