Mad Men's Noxon Penning Fright Night

November 12, 2009

"Mad Men" writer/producer Marti Noxon has been hired to write the script for DreamWorks Studios' redo of the 1985 horror comedy Fright Night.

Before her work on AMC's "Mad Men," Noxon was a writer/producer on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel."

In the 1985 original, written and directed by Tom Holland, was a horror comedy about a teenager who discovers that his neighbors are vampires. The updated version will keep the comedy-horror tone while modernizing the effects.

Well, Marti was one of the better writers on Buffy and Angel and if I'm not mistaken, is pretty hot as well. (She played the news anchor in Dr. Horrible's Sing along blog, along with other co-writer, David Fury)

*Gasp* Another remake we don't need? Surprise, surprise! What's next? "Shocker"? "Pulse"? I'm sure "Poltergeist" is in the pipeline.

I would have to agree this movie is a classic and I can't see anyone even coming close to playing the role of "Peter Vincent, the ggreat vampire killer" played by Roddy McDowall. Let us just see what happens.

Brand-O - Was that sarcasm? Wes has confirmed the Shocker remake, Pulse WAS a remake of an Asian horror flick and yes, Poltergeist IS in the pipeline. New to the site?;-)I dont understand all of the hatred for remakes, reboots, reinventions, etc. The fact is that the classics aer still classics. I understand wanting to preserve the classics for the next generations but, really, if you threw on the original House on Haunted Hill or, more appropriately, the original Fright Night most people that are too young to remember the originals would just walk out. Not enough FX and no CGI. Now I LOVE the original and I always will. It doesnt mean that Im going to boycott this or anything unless it winds up looking like crap. All the remakes do for me is remind me how great (or how bad) the originals were. Now if they start taking dead stars and doing remakes using their CGI image or something, then I may be seriously offended...

Anybody want to bet it's going to be changed into a Twilight type of flick, with Dandridge being some poor misunderstood bloodsucker instead of the evil vampire he was? Remakes are a joke, and the sad part is people keep paying money to see them despite how awful they are.
