Lawrence and St. John to Adapt Sgt. Rock

Heat Vision reports that Sgt. Rock, based on the WWII hero from DC Comics, will be directed by Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Constantine) from a script by Chad St. John (The Days Before).

Joel Silver, who has been steering the project for nearly 20 years, is teaming with Akiva Goldsman, who recently boarded as producer, to bring the project to the big screen via Warner Bros. Silver Pictures' Andrew Rona also is producing, and Weed Road's Kerry Foster is executive producing.

Sgt. Frank Rock was the leader of his infantry unit, Easy Company. He first appeared in a 1959 issue of "Our Army at War." In 1977, the comic was renamed "Sgt. Rock" and ran until 1988.

Schwartzenegar is too old now, wonder who they'll cast.

Thanks Francis. Now almost all hope is lost for that long-in-development "Constantine" sequel. A**hole.

Didn't really read the comic book, but from the looks of it and the director chosen, this could work.

Based on the state of current affairs in casts, I'd say that Sam Worthington or Gerard Butler will land this role.

I read that they are updating it, and not keeping the WW2 setting, sounds kind of sh**y to me

I like the Kurt Russell idea... I agree that Schwarzenegger would've been perfect, but he's too old, and concentrates more on being governor so a starring role is outta the question. But Russell, while older as well, is still pretty badass and he needs to make more movies.
