Jake Gyllenhaal Finds the Source Code

November 9, 2009

Jake Gyllenhaal is in negotiations to star in sci-fi thriller Source Code for Vendome Pictures and The Mark Gordon Co., reports Variety.

Duncan Jones (Moon) will direct and Mark Gordon will produce with Vendome's CEO Philippe Rousselet and Jordan Wynn. The Summit Entertainment release is scheduled to begin filming during the first quarter of 2010. Jones has stated that his planned follow up to Moon, the futuristic Berlin-based sci-fi film Mute, has been put on hold for him to develop this project as his next film.

Source Code centers on a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown commuter and is forced to live and relive a harrowing train bombing until he can determine who is responsible for it.

Gyllenhaal is currently filming Love and Other Drugs and can next be seen in Brothers and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. (Look for our interview with Gyllenhaal from the set later this week.)

I read the script a while ago, when Topher Grace was attached. With Duncan Jones directing, this could be a great movie (and also a sleeper hit in terms of box office).

Source Code comes from the Matrix. No crappy movie is taking that out of mind.

Glad to see Duncan Jones getting an A list actor like Gyllenhaal for his next movie. Jones is going to be one of the big great sci-fi directors out there for the next time to come, along with Blomkamp, judging from his awesome debut "Moon". Hope he manages to get the funding for his Berlin/"Blade Runner" project...

Read the script. It's pretty awesome. One of the best sci fi scripts I have ever redad. It's like what Deja Vu should have been.
