Faris, Aykroyd and Timberlake Board Yogi Bear

November 6, 2009

Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake are in talks to star in Yogi Bear, Warner Bros.' big screen adaptation of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon.

The film is being directed by Eric Brevig and produced by Donald De Line and Karen Rosenfelt as a live-action/CG hybrid.

Faris will play a nature documentarian who follows the antics of a bear in fictional Jellystone Park. Aykroyd will voice Yogi, and Timberlake may voice Yogi's companion, Boo Boo.

The studio hopes to get Yogi Bear under way in New Zealand in December. Brad Copeland penned the current script with Joshua Sternin and Jeff Ventimilia writing the original draft.

Sorry, no. If you're doing Yogi and Boo Boo, you gotta have the right voices with the right inflections.

It'd be like having Snagglepuss the movie, starring Gilford Godfrey as Snagglepuss. It's wrong.

Are you kidding me? *sigh* I bet they get Will Ferrell to play Ranger Smith. Or better yet, Steve Carrell.

Boo Boo: I dunno Yogi. I dont think Mr. Ranger's going to like this.

Yogi: We must Boo Boo. We're on a mission from God.

Boo Boo: But Yogi, what goes around goes around goes around comes all the way back around.
Now Break it down: Bring it all down to OmletteVille.

At least Dan Aykroyd is doing SOMETHING. Anything. I've watched "Ghostbusters," "Blues Brothers," "The Great Outdoors," and "Trading Places" all pretty recently, and come to the conclusion that I miss seeing people like him in movies.

This is gonna suck for sure, or be about as good as that crappy "Garfield" movie, but hey, at least the man gets some work.

Timberlake may be a tool, but I thought he kicked ass in "Southland Tales" so I've started cuttin' him some slack. Anna Faris, however, is annoyingly bad all the time. How is she still getting all of these roles?

I hope they use animator Carlo Vinci's butt bounce in Yogi's walk cycle. Probably not, these new filmmakers don't do their homework or have no sense.
