Stephen L'Heureux on Sin City 2, Hard Boiled

October 29, 2009

Comics2Film at Mania.com got a chance to talk to producer Stephen L'Heureux about Sin City 2 and Hard Boiled.

L'Heureux told the site that the Sin City sequel will go into production in the second half of 2010. The sequel will be based on an original script by Frank Miller, who will again co-directed with Robert Rodriguez.

The producer added that Miller is working on the screenplay for Hard Boiled, based on his and Geof Darrow's comic about an insurance investigator-turned-cyborg assassin. Miller is attached to direct the adaptation.

Because Sin City 2 will take up Miller's time for a while, Hard Boiled could take a while to hit theaters. "There's also talk, of course, of 'Sin City 3'," he said.

Is Sin City 2 even relevant anymore? I mean, sure there have been far larger gaps between sequels...but...wow. I almost feel like Sin City was big because it was fairly unique at the time, and since then, bigger and better things have come up. Plus, The Spirit used some of the same cinematic tricks, and that was awful. Guess we'll see.

I agree.

Leave Sin City as is.

Revisit in 10 years.

You can't even begin to compare the spirit with sin city. Two different levels, Spirit sucked and Sin City is still an entertaining movie that captivates even after the 20th time watching it. I would bet money that Sin City 2 will blow Watchmen and others in the genra out the water.

I only saw the first Sin City due to ''Alexis Bledel'' but birttney murphy and Jessica alba also looked georgous in the film which was an added bonus.

I see No reason to make a sequel but if they do and they have those same woman id probally go see it and depending on how that does will depend on a 3rd one.

I have No problem with Sequels as long as they are good and represent the franchise well.

If not, then leave it alone it was a good movie.

I cannot wait for Sin City 2. This movie should have been made a long time ago. There is so much they can still do with it.

I really hope this time they throw in the side story about Agent Jake Lavendar and the villain that craps his pants relentlessly all over his victims. That storyline was beyond awesome. I want them to also show the contrasted yellow pee streams among the black and white footage. It was one of the most masterful drawings ever done by Miller and would beat out the cinematography of Citizen Kane if pulled off correctly.

"Leave Sin City as is. Revisit in 10 years."

Why revisit? The film doesn't need to be remade let alone should it be.

@Pate
"Sin City is still an entertaining movie..."

So your saying it's still good for now but won't be later? Do films reach a certain point for you & then they should be remade or something? Seriously. You should have said Sin City is an entertaining film & leave out the word "still". By putting the word "still" in your comment it makes you sound like you only have a short term use for it before it's not worthy of anything anymore or some such.

"Sin City" will stand the test of time as it's slowly reaching that classic status.
