Jerry Bruckheimer has tapped J. Michael Straczynski to adapt 2K Games' "Shattered Union" video game for Disney.

"Shattered Union," developed by PopTop Software ("Tropico" series, "Railroad Tycoon 2" and "3"), is a turn-based strategy wargame in which players fight as one of many warring factions in an attempt to reunify the United States fractured by a second civil war.

The game was published in 2005. You can visit the official website for more info.

J. Michael Straczynski (upcoming Ninja Assassin) is writing a Silver Surfer film at Fox and a Forbidden Planet reboot at Warner Bros. He also adapted World War Z for Paramount and his Vietnam War drama They Marched Into Sunlight is in pre-production at Universal with Paul Greengrass set to direct.

What factions do the USA break up into? Anyone know? Is it north and south again? If so, which one turns against the Union?

I played this game a few years back and the idea is great the game blows. the U.N. is involved and about 5 different factions battle for resources and you spend half of your time buying tanks and planes. good idea but lousy game.

JMS has reported in the B5 Usenet forum that his SS script is likely stuck in limbo permanently, as it was based on the events of FF2 and quite some time has passed since that film, making any SS film likely to go in a fresh direction.

This intrigues me. Good writer, a producer with clout. Could be good.

Cool! A Forbidden Planet remake. I`m not big on remakes generally but, at least this ones 50 years old and could benefit from today`s tech. Looking for forward to it.

Oh Yeah, and lets get started on the Rising Stars movie. Let`s not wait 25 years like we did with the Watchmen.
