Principal photography has started in Vancouver, Canada for 30 Days of Night: Dark Days, the sequel to the vampire movie based on the cult-hit graphic novel series by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith. Produced by Stage 6 Films and Ghost House Pictures, 30 Days of Night: Dark Days marks director Ben Ketai's first feature film and is based on a screenplay written by Niles and Ketai.

The cast includes Kiele Sanchez (A Perfect Getaway, "Lost"), Diora Baird (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Wedding Crashers), Rhys Coiro ("Entourage," "24," upcoming Straw Dogs), Mia Kirshner ("The L Word," The Black Dahlia), and Harold Perrineau ("Oz," "Lost," The Matrix Revolutions).

The sequel takes place a year since the Alaskan town of Barrow's population was decimated by vampires during its annual month long sunset. Riddled with grief over the death of her husband, bound by nightmares and void of all emotions beyond hate and sorrow, Stella (Sanchez) has spent the past months traveling the world, trying to convince others that vampires exist. Met with skepticism and laughter, Stella is ready to throw in the towel when a group of lost souls (Coiro, Baird and Perrineau) offers an incredible opportunity: the chance to exact revenge upon Lilith (Kirshner), the vampire queen responsible for the assault on her sleepy Alaskan town. With nothing remaining to live for, and nothing left to fear, Stella joins their mission and ventures into the uncharted underbelly of Los Angeles where she pushes herself to the most extreme limits to stop the evil from striking again.

To expand...I like the revenge idea and Stella (if played by the correct actress) trying to convince folks that vamps are real. The whole idea when to ****e/crapola the moment they said "vampire queen" and "uncharted underbelly of Los Angeles".

Did 30 days Of Night even make enough money to earn a sequel???

I was good to go on this until these fateful words were typed
"the uncharted underbelly of Los Angeles" WTH??!! they can't be serious! You go from cold to heat just like that? keep it in the frozen tundra people! Hell at least let the led make to a Canadian city and go from there, L.A.?! what flipping relavence does that play into? let me give you a hint at how unsuccessful this will be,

Escape from NY= classic
Escape from LA= utter failure!

30 DON= good horror film
30 DON L.A.= utter failure

Im guessing most of you never bothered to pick up a book or hell, even a comic; this is written by Niles the man who wrote the comics AND the first movie. You liked that story right? And Dark Days is also the name of the sequel to the original 30 Days of Night comic. At the very least do a little research before spouting off like 12-year-olds. And possibly none of the original cast is returning because of schedule conflicts (Melissa George's IMDB says she's currently filming Swinging with the Finkles) OR hell, the rest were pretty much killed off. In reality, the survivors of vicious attacks rarely go globe trotting to tell people what happened. They inform the authorities and then live their lives, some go on TV but not all. So...yeah next time check things out before rushing to judgement.

And yes, 30DN:DD does follow the plot of the books close-enough that I think it'll be a faithful adaptation the way the original was. Im just hoping it ends as ambiguously as the comic and we get 30 Days of Night: Return to Barrow.
